How do you benefit from working with a Nutritionist?

Believe you know what is healthy? Maybe you doー but here are some ways you can still benefit from working with a nutritionist.

Trained with the skills to provide expert nutrition and dietary advice, we apply Nutritional science to offer useful guidance on how to eat healthily, prevent diseases and disorders, and promote general wellbeing, as well as translate and interpret the latest scientific studies for the population.

"Your relationship with a Nutritionist goes way beyond food."

Identify and work through your barriers

Everyone has different barriers and sometimes you're so close to the problem that it is difficult for you to pinpoint the issue. This ends up holding you back from working out a solution. Who better than someone who has seen a good deal of holdups and pitfalls to help you troubleshoot the challenges or push through the plateaus. A nutritionist can help give you a different perspective and offer appropriate alternatives and solutions.

Whether it is getting weary of the routine roti-sabzi, or looking for some serious-but-healthier pick-me-up, a nutritionist can be your person.

You won't have to do this all by yourself

Being answerable to someone else can be a great motivator especially when it comes to not giving up on health and diet. Clients usually tell me that an upcoming appointment usually reminds them to stick to our plan and make a choice that they feel good sharing. It also helps when we check in on them periodically to remind them of their goals and achievements when they are drowning in an overwhelmingly hectic life. Positive reinforcement from someone helps to make the journey easier.

Navigating through sticky situations like back to back travel or sports events, family functions, or balancing hectic work and life schedules is difficult on its own without having to do it all by yourself.

You get emotional support

Since food is pivotal to so many aspects of life, a lot of feelings are associated with food. For example, people who experience all-or-nothing while trying to lose weight believe that they are either a complete success or a total failure based on their food choices. Changing food habits and establishing new ones may seem overwhelming and can be an emotional event. Talking through things at this stage helps persist. Additionally, feelings have great influence over how and what you eat, and getting a handle on some personal challenges can be made easier with food without getting caught in the same old snare of emotional eating.

Having someone to draw attention to how far you’ve reached can turn your mood right around and keep you motivated.

Someone trustworthy to answer your 'Sorry, just one more question'

Can I have a cheat day? Should I have a cheat day? How can I get results quickly? Do I really need a vitamin pill? Can I follow a particular fad diet? Can I not eat and lose weight? Can I skip carbs, have protein shakes all day to build muscles? Can I sweat my weight out while training? And the never-ending list of questions that pop up in your head.

You could google them and go down the internet rabbit hole or you could ask them to your nutritionist and make the process so much easier. It’ll also give you the comfort that you didn’t lead your body into an unhealthy rollercoaster. We aren’t here to judge you but to dispel myths and misconceptions floating around in the media and the society. You will be amazed at the number of myths and facts you’ll discover and get a lowdown on trending diets or recommendations of supplements as well as give you ideas that get you going in the right direction.

Improve your relationship with food

"Food- Sometimes you can’t live with it, and undisputedly can’t live without it".

Most of us are always trying to work on our love-hate relationship with food. However, one-sided and contradictory information manifests and makes it even more maze-like. Carbs are evil, fats are the worst, proteins will tire out your kidneys, vegan/paleo is the best, master cleanse your body, detox teas- you know the drill. They leave us with a lot of noise and zilch to eat. Establishing a healthy relationship with food means knowing when to loosen the rules, stop setting yourself up for failure, learning when to turn down the volume, and making the journey aware but guilt-free while focusing on nourishment. We nutritionists can try instilling balance in your lives from the out-of-control pendulum while teaching you to practice mindfulness. Focusing on making food nourishing rather than what to cut out from the diet and mourning it.

Acceptance, Self-esteem, and Self-confidence

Nurturing a relationship with yourself is the key to acceptance, and this can take time, effort, and a whole lot of compassion. Looking into counselling with a therapist can help understand the whys and hows but a nutritionist can help you complement this work. We can help you honour your hunger and reach realistic goals all the while helping you rekindle your love for food. The aim here is to make eating joyful rather than stressful and anxiety-driven. Understanding how food affects your mind and body will be of tremendous help. Our job is to take a holistic approach helping you commit to improving your relationship with food, fueling your exercise, improved fruit & vegetable intake, and prioritizing you, your mindset, and your goals.

Learn New Recipes and Skills

Cooking is easier than you think, not only is it fun but also cheaper than eating out. And no matter your ability, anyone can learn it. "Studies show the more you cook for yourself, the healthier you live". As nutritionists, we prefer home-cooked meals over takeaways. However, we won’t judge if your schedule doesn’t accommodate time to cook. But we will always have your back, providing you with recipes & healthier alternatives. A quick discussion with your nutritionist can potentially remedy your problems with our Santa Claus bag full of one-dish meals, quick fixers, food-on-the-go, meals/ideas for vacation carry-along, etc. Pretty soon you’ll be an expert at how to meander through the food section at shopping malls without getting sidelined by unnecessary snacks but rather making a beeline straight to the fresh produce.

Remember our primary goal is to empower you with the right knowledge and appropriate skills so you can make the best food choices.

Be Healthy, Be Happening.
